The first ever scouting club in Turkey was established in Mekteb-I Sultani (“Galatasaray Imperial High School,” the old name of the school) in 1912, under the leadership of brothers Ahmet and Abdurrahman Robenson. The club remained active until the 1980s, when it was closed down for political reasons. It recommenced its activities under the name of Lion Scouting Group in 2009. The mission of the club is to reactivate the Lion Scouting Group and to train individuals who aim to serve a society based on scouting principles.
